Trash Collection and Receptacle Storage
Garbage containers, recycle bins, and yard waste shall not be stored in an area
where they are visible from the street.
Yard Waste pickup is every Thursday. Containers shall only be placed at the curb no
earlier than the night before pickup and returned to the homeowner's storage area
the same day of pickup.
Garbage and Recycle pickup is every Thursday except for holidays (July 4th,
Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and Martin Luther King) which will then be the
following day. Containers shall only be placed at the curb no earlier than the night
before pickup and returned to the homeowners storage area the same day of
pickup.
Special pickups for old furniture, appliances or lawn equipment can be scheduled by
calling Gainesville Waste Management at 334-2330. Pickup is generally on a Friday
to coincide with general garbage collection. Do not put out items until the night prior
to pickup. The items must be removed and stored out of sight if the city fails to pick
them up and a new date for pickup is scheduled. Pickups for concrete blocks, bricks,
and other major building materials are available for an extra charge.
If you need to exchange your cart for a different size, call customer information at
334-2330. This office can also provide information on what can be recycled, and
how to dispose of syringes or needles. If you have trash that will not fit in your cart
you must place it in an officially marked bag (yellow) and put the bags next to your
cart. You can purchase these bags at Gainesville Waste Management or at local
retail grocery stores (Publix on Millhopper Road) or call 334-2330.

paint cans, used oil, and other hazardous materials.
